Space and depth

Reverb and delay

Two ways to create space: a room, or echoes.

Reverb simulates a room: thousands of reflections blended into a continuous tail. Delay repeats the sound at regular intervals: distinct echoes.

Reverb pushes back and envelops; delay thickens and adds rhythm, often staying more discreet in the mix.

The game has you tell them apart and their variants: short or long room, single or multiple echo.

Listen for

  • A continuous tail (reverb) versus distinct repeats (delay).
  • How long the tail lasts after the sound.

The classic mistake

Too much reverb on everything: the mix becomes distant and blurred. Dose it per element.
